I find it incredibly bizarre that major publications are almost expected to evolve with the release of new technology. In a way I suppose it sort of makes sense… I read an interesting article on Mashable.com that described why many magazines look rather awful on the new iPad. Apparently most magazines have failed to update to accommodate for the incredibly high resolution featured on the new iPad.
I find this interesting because it seems now that major publications are expected to adapt to new technology -specifically the iPad- at rapid pace. It seems that Apple will likely dictate this trend going forward. But it’s also likely this is how journalism will be forced to evolve in the future. Let us hope that technology doesn’t dictate the content and quality as well.
